Utilizing Directional Antennas for Ad Hoc Networking (UDAAN)
UDAAN is a DARPA-sponsored project under the Future Combat Systems (FCS)
Communications program. BBN Technologies, Stow Research LLC
and Texas A&M University (TAMU) are developing
a suite of protocols for utilizing directional antennas in ad hoc networks.
A significant payoff from UDAAN will be increased effective capacity. Other
payoffs include decreased packet latency, increased connectivity, greater
multicast efficiency, and lower probability of dectection/interference.
A more detailed description of UDAAN goals may be found in the UDAAN Summary
document below.
